Job Description

Spa Director – Luxury Hotel Spa Pre-Opening

Location: El Paso, Texas | Full-Time | On-Site

An established luxury hotel is seeking an accomplished, entrepreneurial Spa Director to lead the pre-opening and launch of a spectacular new luxury spa and wellness destination.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced spa leader to build a sophisticated operation from the ground up, shaping everything from the service culture and guest experience to the treatment menu, wellness programming, team, and business strategy.

The beautifully designed spa will offer an immersive wellness experience featuring extensive hydrotherapy, sauna and steam facilities, luxurious treatment rooms, dedicated relaxation and reflection spaces, a full salon, retail, and thoughtfully appointed guest areas.

We are specifically seeking a leader with both luxury hotel or resort spa experience and a proven track record of successfully opening a spa. The ideal candidate combines exceptional luxury hospitality instincts with strong operational expertise, financial acumen, and the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.

Beyond the professional opportunity, El Paso offers an appealing quality of life, a comparatively affordable cost of living, and the financial advantage of no individual state income tax.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Opening Leadership

  • Lead all aspects of pre-opening planning, operational development, and launch.
  • Establish SOPs, luxury service standards, treatment protocols, and operating procedures.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and develop an exceptional team of spa, salon, retail, and guest service professionals.
  • Develop the treatment menu, wellness programming, product partnerships, and retail strategy.
  • Oversee operating systems, equipment, supplies, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Collaborate with hotel leadership to ensure operational readiness and a successful opening.

Spa Operations & Guest Experience

  • Direct daily operations across all spa, hydrotherapy, salon, retail, and guest amenity areas.
  • Create a highly personalized, intuitive luxury guest experience that reflects the standards of a sophisticated hotel environment.
  • Establish exceptional standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and presentation.
  • Oversee the operation of hydrotherapy and thermal facilities, ensuring guest comfort, safety, and seamless service.
  • Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence and build meaningful relationships with guests, members, and employees.
  • Continuously elevate service standards, programming, and the overall guest journey.

Financial Performance & Business Development

  • Take ownership of the spa's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue management, labor, expenses, and profitability.
  • Develop pricing strategies, treatment packages, retail initiatives, and revenue-generating programming.
  • Monitor key performance indicators, including treatment-room utilization, therapist productivity, average ticket, retail sales, guest retention, and labor costs.
  • Build a strong local clientele while maximizing business from hotel guests.
  • Develop membership opportunities, local partnerships, events, and wellness experiences to drive repeat visitation and long-term growth.
  • Work closely with hotel leadership and Sales & Marketing to position the spa as a premier wellness destination.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and inspire a service-driven team committed to excellence.
  • Establish a positive, accountable, and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Implement comprehensive onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development.
  • Coach and mentor department leaders and employees to ensure consistent service delivery and strong financial performance.
  • Foster employee engagement, retention, and a genuine passion for wellness and luxury hospitality.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Previous spa pre-opening experience, with demonstrated success taking a luxury spa from development through opening and operational stabilization.
  • Luxury hotel or resort spa leadership experience, with a strong understanding of hotel operations, guest expectations, and luxury service standards.
  • Significant progressive spa leadership experience, ideally as a Spa Director or in a comparable senior management position.
  • Strong financial and operational management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll management, revenue optimization, and profitability.
  • Proven experience recruiting, training, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Must speak Spanish.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience managing sophisticated spa facilities with extensive hydrotherapy, sauna, steam, and other thermal amenities.
  • Experience overseeing multiple spa revenue centers, including treatments, salon, retail, and wellness programming.
  • Success building a local spa business through memberships, partnerships, programming, and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of current luxury wellness trends, innovative treatments, and evolving guest expectations.
  • Experience collaborating with hotel executives, ownership, and multiple operational departments.

The Ideal Leader

We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable creating an extraordinary guest experience and managing the operational and financial details behind a successful luxury spa.

This individual will be entrepreneurial, polished, creative, and hands-on, with the confidence to make decisions, establish standards, and lead a team through the excitement and challenges of a pre-opening environment.

Most importantly, the right candidate will be energized by the opportunity to build something exceptional and take genuine ownership of its long-term success.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • True pre-opening leadership: Build the operation, team, culture, and guest experience from the beginning.
  • Exceptional facility: Lead a beautifully designed luxury spa featuring extensive hydrotherapy and a comprehensive collection of wellness amenities.
  • Luxury hotel environment: Work within an established hospitality setting with the opportunity to create a destination for both hotel guests and local clientele.
  • Opportunity to make an impact: Shape the spa's identity, programming, financial performance, and long-term positioning.
  • Attractive lifestyle: Enjoy a comparatively affordable cost of living in El Paso, Texas, with no individual state income tax.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced luxury hotel spa leader with pre-opening expertise who is ready to create, lead, and grow a truly special wellness destination.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for a confidential conversation.
